Homeland

I am so all over Homeland!

An informant confided to CIA analyst Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) that an American prisoner of war was turned. Ten months later, in a bunker during a military operation in Iraq, a group of soldiers discovered and rescued Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a marine sergeant who had been held captive by the terrorists for eight years. Carrie is strongly convinced that this man is the traitor the informer was talking about. Now all she has to do is prove this theory. However, doing so is going to be anything but easy.
Sheeesh! I am still trying to recover from the heat of watching Homeland Seasons 1 and 2 for the second time. I gotta say, it is just as sick as the first time. Crazy awesome!

In the meantime, while waiting for Season 3, let me share with you my thoughts.

Homeland has only two elements – drama and action. If it’s not drama at the moment, it has to be action, and vice versa. Expect anything but a light moment. Either a scene is so intense you hear your own heart’s loud pounding or so heavy you actually shed tears. (Or maybe I’m just a crybaby. Haha!) The emotions and mood are so real and strong they seem to come right out of the screen. Frigging contagious!

The cast is a roster of, without a doubt, brilliant actors. They manage to be so believable and relatable that I often feel like sympathizing with or abhorring them depending on their roles. Salute to y’all! Haha!

Claire Danes is just asdfghjkl! How she plays and twists the very complicated Carrie Mathison role, it’s amazing and insane. Her acting is both remarkable and extraordinary. Let all her best actress awards do the talking, or slap you in the face if you’re a cynic. Hahaha! Two thumbs up! No, she’s too awesome two thumbs just won’t do it. Make it four. Toes included. Haha!

Among the other characters I like are those of Mandy Patinkin’s Saul Berenson, the ever composed and insightful man; and Morgan Saylor’s Dana Brody, the somewhat unruly daughter who’s always so blunt about her feelings. Attagirl!

This post will not be complete without me raving about how mind-blowing the twists are! There’s no way of knowing where they will lead the story. Two words – baffling and unpredictable. The development of the plot is strongly thought provoking. Every episode, every season, the unexpected turn of events just continues on giving me numbing goosebumps right up to my freaking head. Real goosebumps, just the way I like it! Wooooo! Hahaha.

I wouldn’t let this blog end without saying this, the second season finale was sick! There couldn’t have been a more intense cliffhanger than that. Too awesome for words!
Plot, cast, twists – Homeland is in every bit a kickass show!

This series returns on TV by the end of September, and I am sure all its followers, including me, are already too darn excited. One month feels like one year. Agree? Haha!

There is a lot to look forward to in the show. I already want to know how it’s going to end with Carrie and Nick (though I guess this season doesn’t have the answer yet). I just can’t wait for every mystery to be unraveled, every twist to be untangled and every complication to be solved. Barf! J

To those who haven’t watched this yet, find time! It’s worth every minute of your life. COME ON!!! Haha!

Comedyville

These past few weeks I always find myself having spasms due to laughing too much. Do I feel bad about this? Heck, no! Why? Because a good laugh is always necessary to survive the day.J

Anyways, I’m sharing with you the reasons why I’ve been LMAO-ing/ LOL-ing/ ROTFL-ing/ LMHO-ing lately (and why I still don’t have a decent life right now) (HAHAHA):

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

HIMYM is about Ted’s (Josh Radnor) never ending quest to find the girl he’s destined to be with for life. He doesn’t have to do this alone because his funny friends, Marshall (Jason Segel), Lily (Alyson Hannigan), Robin (Cobie Smulders), and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), are there to help him. How I Met Your Mother because the series began with the future Ted (voiced by Bob Saget) of year 2030 recounting his journey of finding this girl to his son and daughter.
My golly! I’m so in love with this series! I knew it was gonna be a fave the moment I saw its first five minutes. No kidding. I love that it’s about love and FRIENDSHIP.J Okay, so I don’t know what else to say about it. Not because I don’t like it that much, but because I don’t think my words can fully describe how awesome and funny HIMYM really is. Haha! Sarreh! Pahaha!

While watching, you start to remember your own bunch of crazy friends and the things you do with them. Then you start matching the characters with them friends of yours. Who’s the Ted of the group? The Marshall? The Lily? Do you have a Scherbatsky? A Barney? Wait, is it just me? Am I the only one doing this? Weird. Hahaha!
I have a bit of crush on Ted. He’s such a cutie and a goody-goody type of guy. He looks so harmless, which is the exact opposite of Barney. Haha! But that doesn’t mean I hate Barney. In fact, I am in love with him. His personality screams AAAAAWESSSOOOOOME from head to toe. Gotta admire his confidence, or should I say overconfidence? Hahaha!

I have to admit that I’m still stuck on its 6th season. I know, I’m such a loser. Haha! So what if I’m a late bloomer? That’s all right ‘coz I’m in no hurry. Haha!

NEW GIRL

After breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) moves into a new loft where she finds herself living with three equally bizarre guys - Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris). These roommates, along with Cece (Hannah Simone), Jess’s bestfriend, establish a friendship that keeps on getting tighter as they all face life together.
What I so like about New Girl is it actually shows the viewers how it’s like when you put a girl in the world of guys - lots of clashes and differences (you know, all those opposite sex conflicts), which are interpreted in a comical way. But once they start to understand each other, well, that’s when it becomes really fascinating.J

I so love Jess’s character! She can be so weird and so out of this world without being annoying. She can do crazy, offbeat stuff and still look cute. Wish all girls could be like her. Hahaha! And Schmidt! Oh my, Schmidt! Hahaha! He’s my second favorite character, next to Jess. He’s so vain and OC that I sometimes wonder whether he’s gay or not. Hahaha!
Every time I watch other series, drama or action, I always want to be up to date with the episodes. So if I am still so many seasons or eps. away, I'm gonna force myself to watch tens of eps. at once until my eyes start bleeding. (Okay, that’s OA, but you get the point. Haha!) But with HIMYM and New Girl, I can just lie back, get some popcorn (with matching Coke) and take it easy. No need to rush the shows. They’re actually more enjoyable and relaxing that way because I can savor each episode.J
These two sitcoms are so light and fun to watch.J Every night before I go to bed, I’d watch two or three (or five or 10!) eps. just to make sure I’d have a good night’s sleep. Even bad days can be turned into good ones with only 20 mins. of nonstop hilarity and silliness from these guys! True story!

Friends, I suggest you also give these two a try. I’m more than sure you’ll love them too!J Watch and you’ll know where I’m getting these spasms from!

Person of Interest

Remember when I said on my TV series post that I would be checking out other new series? Well, I just did!

Latest addiction: PERSON OF INTEREST!J
Person of Interest is set in present-day New York. Triggered by the 911 trauma, the government hired Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) to build a machine that'd monitor and detect acts of terrorism. But the machine's power exceeded its purpose. Aside from seeing major acts of terror (those that concern a great number of people), it also identifies threats dealing with specific targets. This is where John Reese (Jim Caviezel), an ex-member of the U.S. Special Forces and CIA, enters the story. Finch and Reese work together to prevent crimes from happening. As what Finch’d always say in the beginning of every ep., victim or perpetrator, if a person's number's up, they'd find that person.
The plot's pretty cool. No, it’s supah dupah cool (HAHAHA!) --- messing up with fate, playing God and stopping what's bound to happen from happening. Wild! Haha! Person of Interest has the right mix of suspense, drama and action. How they get the means to do what they do, how they always find a hole to work their way out - it's craaaazy. Haha! The tandem of Finch and Reese is also interesting; one being the genius introvert-type while the other is the physically capable badass. Haha! While doing heroic stuff and all, they still have their (secret) personal lives to deal with (note that everyone thinks they’re already dead). See, they’re very much aware of the existence of this so-called “machine” that a special group of people is after them. Oh, and let's not forget the devious Elias who's got bigger plans of taking over underground New York.J
Based on my OA reaction, I guess it's safe to say that I enjoy watching Person of Interest!J I always catch myself saying “wow” and “cool” with amusement every time a new twist is revealed, or every time they show some cool stuff out there, like when Finch'd use his hacking skills or when he'd get access to everything through his kabillion dollars. Haha!J There’s still more to the plot that’s about to come in the future, and I just can’t wait to find out.

I just hope more people will notice the show. I don’t understand why, but it’s not getting that much attention even if it’s really good. Come on, guys. Spread the word! Lol.  Give it a try. I’m sure you’ll like it as much as I do.J

Season 2 is now close to its end, and things just keep on getting more exciting! After this, I’ll go work on my other-series-to-watch list to take my mind off anticipating season 3. Torture! Lol. There’s THE FINDERARROW and THE BIG BANG THEORY (I know I’m kinda(no, super) late with this one, but whatever!). Hahaha!

‘series-ly speaking’

112312. friday.

you might be wondering what's with the title. truth is i don't know either. HAHA! i just had to insert the word ‘series.’ i had to find a way and this was the only thing i’ve come up with. i know, i know it doesn't make sense, but what can i do? my imagination is so poor. shame on me. let’s just move on from the title nonsense and go straight to this post’s topic… HAHA! but really, is the title that lame? HAHA. kidding. (can’t move on.)

time for my real post!

i’ve been on vacation for so long now. i have used all this free time to do the things i couldn’t when i was still so busy back in school, which is basically doing a marathon. no, not a footrace (i’m too lazy for that), not a road race (i barely know how to start a motorcycle), but a movie-book-series marathon (now, that’s where i’m very good at)! yes, every stressed person’s idea of a perfect breather. WELCOME TO MY GOOD LIFE.JJJ

movies, check. books, check. now, SERIESSSS OVERLOAD.

these TV series are the  reason for my lack of sleep in the past months. HAHAHA. they are to blame. the severity of my addiction is to the extreme. if they were cigarettes and i were a smoker, you'd see me already lighting a cigar while still finishing and puffing one in my mouth. that's just how i've been so hooked to these shows. i just wanted to watch all of them at once, if only i could. i slash every season of every series, episode by episode by episode. after i finish one, i start with the next on my list right away. there ain’t no stopping now. there were days, many days, when all i did was wake up, have lunch, go straight to my laptop, and watch until the wee hours, until my eyes bleed (that’s figurative. HAHA!). if you're watching any of these, you sure as hell would understand. you'd definitely understand. HAHAHA!

i wanna share with you some of the series i'm so into right now.

GOSSIP GIRL
starring Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgely, Chace Crawford

Gossip Girl’s story follows the lives of the privileged young elites in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, beginning from high school until they have graduated.

who in the world doesn’t know about Gossip Girl? every teenage girl has to know this show because it is the ultimate romance and drama series. it is now on its sixth and final season. you can only imagine how tangled the relationships during the past five seasons have been, but Season 6 is now here to decide who ends with who. OMG, i can’t wait to find out what’s gonna happen with Serena, Dan, Nate, Blair, and Chuck! rooting for team CHAIR! HAHA. fangirl mode on!J

TOUCH
starring Kiefer Sutherland, David Mazouz, Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Martin Bohm is a widower who raises a son suffering from mutism, Jake. when Martin realized his son uses numbers to communicate, he also figured out that Jake has a gift of predicting the future. they work as a team to put things where they should be and make things happen.

this is a touching story showing how our lives connect and touch. it explains how everything we do, no matter how big or small, has an effect on other people’s lives. it’s even more touching when everything gets settled - family members reunited, people saved, a person finding his peace, and more. after every episode, there’s always a certain realization about life and people, about how, in many different ways, this whole universe is a work of wonder. lemme just add this, Jake is one gifted kid!J

THE NEWSROOM
starring Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Dev Patel

Will McAvoy, a news anchor, used to be comfortable with his cable show’s set up until MacKenzie McHale, an executive producer and his ex-lover, turns up to reformat his program into a worthy news source.

The Newsroom is quite close to my heart, well, because the story is related with the course i took up in college.J by watching this, you get to see what happens behind the camera of a news show, all the drama and issues. i get all emotional every time. the story, the  characters are all very touching. the characters’ dedication, hard work and ingenuity are all amazing. this series makes me appreciate my course even more.J

THE WALKING DEAD
starring Andrew Lincoln, Laurie Holden, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Steven Yeun

as Rick Grimes keeps his family safe, he also meets other humans who fight to survive the invasion of the ‘walkers’ along the way. together, they look for a hiding place away from the zombies.

i love The Walking Dead!!! on top of all the creepy zombies is a story of survival and human struggle. thought i wouldn’t enjoy this ‘coz i’m not a fan of zombie-starred shows, but heck i go ga-ga over it now. so, so exciting and action-packed! HAHA! i’m gonna do a marathon of S03 when the whole season’s done! i can’t wait! been hearing a lot of good reviews. HAHA!

BREAKING BAD
starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, RJ Mitte, Bob Odenkirk

Walter White, a Chemistry genius who ended up teaching in a high school, was diagnosed with lung cancer. he teamed up with Jesse Pinkman, his former student, in cooking and selling crystal meth to save for his family’s future.

OMG OMG OMG! Breaking Bad is my ultimate love! i got so emotionally involved with this series, especially with the characters! try doing a marathon of all five seasons every day for a month, then tell me who wouldn’t get so attached. HAHAHA. i thought i wouldn’t like it at first because the first seasons were not in very good quality, not so HD.J as i made progress, i understood why it’s become one of the best series eva’. i unconsciously and gradually fell in love with Breaking Bad. i even reached a point when i didn’t feel my day’s complete without a dose of Walt and Jesse. HAHA! thanks to Puring for recommending this. Summer 2013, please come fast! can’t wait for Season 6!

i love you, Jesse Pinkman! you’re so cute and cool!

SUITS
starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle

Harvey Specter, a top corporate lawyer, saw that Mike Ross, a brilliant college dropout, has a potential and gave him a chance to work as an associate at Pearson-Hardman.

another ultimate favorite of mine! i love Suits to the umpteenth power! i was always a fan of stories with cool characters and brilliant plots, so it didn’t come as a surprise when i got so hooked with Suits. i was only on the first five minutes of the first episode when i told myself that this was going to be fun. it was indeed! everything about it is just amazing and thrilling! plus, their exchange of witty dialogues is like music to my ears. an awesome discourse delivered by awesome characters is agsghgdhghdgfdghfghjkl! i must say, Mike Ross is a genius but Harvey Specter is the real badass! holy fuck. i sooo love you, Harvey! if only i were that cool! HAHAHA! Season 3 will premiere this January, so i’ll just have to be a little more patient. woof-woof! J

and because of this show, Ima Robot’s Greenback Boogie and Gotye’s Smoke and Mirrors have become a favorite.

that’s it! those were my favorites. HAHAHA. i am now thinking of checking out other recommended series like Person of Interest, Arrow, New Girl, Misfits, and American Horror Story.J which should i watch first?

quite a loooong post, i must say. sorry.J to simply explain how i really feel…
