Tagaytay 2013: It’s All About FAITH

While last Monday was all about the barangay election for most Filipinos, it was a totally different scene for us. This national happening was all too quickly overshadowed by the true highlight of our day – Faith’s birthday celebration! Hahaha! (But I voted first before I got into my fun funk. I’m responsible though I don’t look like it, you know. Haha!)

So going back…

We headed out to Tagaytay City for some fun time, and boy was it crazy awesome. We just squandered time and money the whole day, and it felt really good. I mean, you know, it felt good up until that point before I realized I had no more money left. Still, I have no regrets. YOLO, remember? Haha! Yuh, I know. I know I’m too old for the YOLO moments. I’m no teenager anymore. I should act my age and stuff, but being a teenager’s so much fun I can’t help myself. Hahaha!
Tagaytay was, well, beautiful as always. And it’s already Christmas there! The breeze, the vibe, the sight – everything’s just so Christmassy already, which made me feel all the more excited about the weeks to come. I love it!

The weather went along with us. It didn’t rain, which was more than I could ever ask for. It started out as a fine-weathered day – not too hot and not too cold – but it got really nippy as the night drew closer. The chill went from tolerable and enjoyable to “It's so cold I'm shaking!" Talk about freezing point levels. (OA) Haha! No wonder I have been snorting and sneezing since Monday night. Oh well, it was that particular wintry puff of air that made us go there of all destinations in the first place.
We had lunch at this low-profile and totally underrated bulalohan in Mahogany. It’s one of the bulalohans along a pretty long stretch of cholesterol-mustered goodness in the area’s marketplace. The bulalo was oh so good! So good!!! It was so good I didn’t care how thick and unhealthy the layer of cholesterol around my mouth was so long as my hunger was satisfied and my just then discovered obsession for the sinful dish was overly met. It just didn’t matter anymore. All that mattered was the bulalo. Well, that and the surprisingly delish tawilis. It easily became everyone’s fave that day. Never did I imagine tawilis could actually be that delicious. Not many of us are a fan of this dried fish, but we emptied the bowls like tawilis was something we always loved. Cuh-raaazy! I still can’t get over that tawilis. I would not be shocked if I ever dream of it one of these days. Haha!
Aaaah!

Was the food that awesome? Or did everything just taste so good because the lunch was Faith’s treat? Haha! I guess we can all agree the answer’s both. ;)

Then off we went to Sky Ranch, where we actually didn’t try out any ride. Haha! We didn’t feel like riding any, so we didn’t. We just enjoyed the view, savored the cold breeze and chilled a little bit. J
Girlfriends!
Lex? Haha! We miss you, Lex! :D
Happy couple. JOKE. Hahaha!
Quality kilay time!

To cap off our trip, we had coffee and frappe at Bag of Beans, another perfect chill place to go to when in Tagaytay. J
There we got Faith a little surprise. We gave her a little slice of cake with a candle, and we sang happy birthday to her. I could tell in her reaction that she was touched, really touched. We were happy she was happy. She deserved that and more. J We stayed a little while longer at Bag of Beans because it felt so laid back there.
In general, it was tiring (because we were all just so intense and overflowing with energy) but absolutely worth it if you’re with the right people. One for the books!

What else can I say, some good coffee (and frappe), a vintage-y ambiance and my bestfriends all in one place – THIS. IS. THE. LIFE.
Picture with the family. :)
DEAR. GOD. THANK. YOU. FOR. THIS. LIFE. HAHAHA.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BRU! Thank you for the treat and all the other things in between the seven years of friendship. You know I love ya, right? Hahaha! Kisses!

Should we start planning for our future roadtrips? ;)

Ipe's first

I have been lying low not posting anything lately, which is sad. But now that I’m back, why don’t we consider this my comeback post. Hahahaha!

Here are a few snapshots of what happened last Sunday during Baby Ipe’s first birthday party. It was a day filled with cuteness, what with two cutie patooties effortlessly using their charm to put a smile on everyone’s face. J
Bored and hungry! Hahaha!
Happy birthday, Baby Clarence and, of course, Baby Stephen!
American Ipe!!!
Asian Clarence! :)
We also got our purple-haired Juwie a cake for her birthday yesterday. Happy birthday, Purits! All the love!
Then there was an awkward encounter with a ghost from our past. Oh well. She’s the past; there’s no need to dwell in the past. The present’s awesome; the future's even more promising. Harhar.

A Night in Camera360 Filters

Achievements must be celebrated.

To live up to that belief, my friends and I came together last Sunday, September 15, to celebrate a huge achievement of Rochelle. Or to be more precise now, Engr. Rochelle Mangilin.
Yup, finally a licensed engineer from our batch. I cannot be prouder to have one as a friend/sister. Fistbump!
We had known how much time, money, blood, sweat, and tears she had invested in studying for this, so we were just all so happy when we found out her hard work paid off. Sweet success!

We had a simple gathering, but it was definitely one for the books.
Le Pampanga girls!
L-R : Jusz, me, Joson, Che, Alexa, Leomel, Faith, and Ver. (Special shout out to le photographer, Bernard. Haha!)

But while the reunion was mainly all about Rochelle, I couldn’t help but point out how much one particular app also became a highlight of that day.

My friends are such camwhores. I don’t even have to tell you that. It’s common knowledge. Haha! On that day though, normal photos just wouldn’t gratify their luxury. The answer? Lo and behold the magical Camera360! Hahaha! The say the app beautifies the photos and the people on it. And I am not so sure whether it’s a gift or a curse. It’s crazy. Haha! You hear camera shutters from all sides of the place. It’s one click after another, and it’s one filter after another.
Dakasi hits!
What izz up with your nose, Joson? Haha!
Killer look. HAHA!
We were only few, and we only had a few hours to enjoy ourselves, but it was fun nonetheless. J

Again,

CONGRATULATIONS, CHE!

Don’t forget about me, us, when you get rich. Haha!

P.S.

To our other friends who have yet to take board exams (or any other kind of exam for that matter), good luck and don’t screw up. No flunking! J

*Thanks to Rochelle, Jusz and Faith for the photos!

Homeland

I am so all over Homeland!

An informant confided to CIA analyst Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) that an American prisoner of war was turned. Ten months later, in a bunker during a military operation in Iraq, a group of soldiers discovered and rescued Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), a marine sergeant who had been held captive by the terrorists for eight years. Carrie is strongly convinced that this man is the traitor the informer was talking about. Now all she has to do is prove this theory. However, doing so is going to be anything but easy.
Sheeesh! I am still trying to recover from the heat of watching Homeland Seasons 1 and 2 for the second time. I gotta say, it is just as sick as the first time. Crazy awesome!

In the meantime, while waiting for Season 3, let me share with you my thoughts.

Homeland has only two elements – drama and action. If it’s not drama at the moment, it has to be action, and vice versa. Expect anything but a light moment. Either a scene is so intense you hear your own heart’s loud pounding or so heavy you actually shed tears. (Or maybe I’m just a crybaby. Haha!) The emotions and mood are so real and strong they seem to come right out of the screen. Frigging contagious!

The cast is a roster of, without a doubt, brilliant actors. They manage to be so believable and relatable that I often feel like sympathizing with or abhorring them depending on their roles. Salute to y’all! Haha!

Claire Danes is just asdfghjkl! How she plays and twists the very complicated Carrie Mathison role, it’s amazing and insane. Her acting is both remarkable and extraordinary. Let all her best actress awards do the talking, or slap you in the face if you’re a cynic. Hahaha! Two thumbs up! No, she’s too awesome two thumbs just won’t do it. Make it four. Toes included. Haha!

Among the other characters I like are those of Mandy Patinkin’s Saul Berenson, the ever composed and insightful man; and Morgan Saylor’s Dana Brody, the somewhat unruly daughter who’s always so blunt about her feelings. Attagirl!

This post will not be complete without me raving about how mind-blowing the twists are! There’s no way of knowing where they will lead the story. Two words – baffling and unpredictable. The development of the plot is strongly thought provoking. Every episode, every season, the unexpected turn of events just continues on giving me numbing goosebumps right up to my freaking head. Real goosebumps, just the way I like it! Wooooo! Hahaha.

I wouldn’t let this blog end without saying this, the second season finale was sick! There couldn’t have been a more intense cliffhanger than that. Too awesome for words!
Plot, cast, twists – Homeland is in every bit a kickass show!

This series returns on TV by the end of September, and I am sure all its followers, including me, are already too darn excited. One month feels like one year. Agree? Haha!

There is a lot to look forward to in the show. I already want to know how it’s going to end with Carrie and Nick (though I guess this season doesn’t have the answer yet). I just can’t wait for every mystery to be unraveled, every twist to be untangled and every complication to be solved. Barf! J

To those who haven’t watched this yet, find time! It’s worth every minute of your life. COME ON!!! Haha!
