THE WKND SPECIAL Vol. 1

THE WKND SPECIAL is my blog series aimed at basically documenting the important and semi-important things that happen in my life on particular weekends. (But only when I’m in the mood to do so. Harhar!)

For a debut post, I’d like to say that the weekend that was February 21 and 22 were absolutely well-spent. I managed to squeeze in four separate but equally important meetings with loved ones.
On Saturday, I went to back to college. I wish. Hahaha. But seriously, I came back home to my alma mater after what felt like a long time. LPU-L still had that distinct breeze that gets all the hair raising and bodies shivering in coldness. I missed that. It didn't feel like summer is already fast approaching there. (Wait, is it really already March next week? Aaaack!)
The ever supportive alumni that we were, my college friends and I visited school to show support for the CAS Pep Squad in the annual cheerleading competition. The team was such a dedicated and talented bunch. So dedicated that they won 1st runner-up! It wasn't the cleanest and smoothest performance, but it truly was full of energy and aura which more than compensated for the routine fails and pyramid falls. Congratulations for a well-deserved award, CAS Pep! You guys did great! We're very proud of you! VIVA CAS!

We also took that chance to do the very thing we enjoyed doing most when we were still in college which was to goof around, as in totally fool around like mad kids! We were such happy friends! :) We would catch ourselves unable to close our mouths from laughing nonstop and feeling our jaws locked in pain afterwards for good reason. Yey! I super duper, duper, duper missed my college mates!

Come Sunday, I was off again. I had quite a few places to go and things to do in my itinerary. I was first off to spend a quick chat with Him. I didn’t attend mass, just had a little quiet time with Him. :) Then I was off again! Zooooom!
I met with the boyfriend for some QT (quality time). Nothing like a dose of the boyfriend to cheer me up and complete my awesome rest day, woots! *insert heart-shaped eyes here* LOLOLOL!

And before I knew it, I was off again to meet another set of friends, the high schoolers! Let’s roll!
This get-together was brought to us by the ever loud Krizia Joson who was celebrating her birthday. It was pizza night for us! A huge four-flavored pizza for dinner and a good set of friends for company were the perfect way to cap off my awesome weekend!
To Krizia, happy birthday! I know you’re in such a really good place in your life right now, especially with your work and love life. It shows. You’re beautiful. :) You are entitled to these good things, so claim them! Please continue being that pesky friend (haha) because that attitude makes all gatherings happen and gets the gang to be complete! :) Your friends love you; I love you!

xx

LPL Foundation Week: Cheering Competition and HOTSPOT #GrandAlumniHomecoming

“Today is a day for change.”

We knew the moment Ms. A uttered those words that it was our day, that the thing we’ve all been wanting for the longest time is now ours. FINALLY.

We won the championship. CAS Pep Squad is this year’s champion. Just saying it still sends chills right up to my neck. I was not able to watch their performance live (I was late), but I saw a video of it. It was the most beautiful performance of CAS I’ve seen. It was the cleanest – the stunts, the routines and the aura. It did not feel like the kids were nervous at all. They were very confident that it showed in their dance. All there was was positive energy from the kids who were pouring their hearts out. Goosebumps.

I was there when the announcement was made. We, the alumni, were there. We were holding onto our seats, holding hands, getting ready for what was to come. From the second runner-up to the champion, they were called – College of Engineering, College of Allied Medicine and boom College of Arts and Sciences! What followed was frenzy. Everyone from the CAS went to the center of the gym. The pep members, students, professors, and alumni went all bonkers in the middle of it all without a care in the world. We won, and that was all that mattered right then. We won, and we savored every second of it. It was a sweet victory we could taste in our systems. February 22 is a day that would forever mark in our hearts. I am glad I witnessed it; I am lucky I was a part of it. Congratulations, CAS Pep! All for the love of God!

The fun did not end there, though. That night we were also there for HOTSPOT #GrandAlumniHomecoming. This happening, organized by the Alumni Society in cooperation with Palaestra Consortio, was something we were also looking forward too, as it was an event planned when my classmates and I were still volunteers of the org. Kudos to Sarah, Ate Clarize, Liezette, AlumniSoc, Palaestra Consortio, Alumni officers, and volunteers for a job well done!

It was ironically refreshing to see old faces, especially those ates and kuyas from our college. The hellos and how-are-yous were genuine. There were fewer attendees compared to the first homecoming (and we weren’t alumni yet at the time), but it was fun nonetheless because at least majority of them was from our department. That’s how much we love these gatherings. J
The videos shown and photos flashed before us brought nostalgic delight and sentiment. We were such totoys and nenes. We saw how drastically we changed not just physically but in general. We missed the activities, together with all the fun that went with them, we had back then. We were such active, crazy schoolers.
And after watching that promotional video of LPL, I became an even prouder Lycean. The vid talked about the kind of education that LPL offers. It discussed the root of the institution’s mission and vision. It’s a very simple video, but I, as its graduate, believe it covers all the aspects of the wonderful learning and experiences I’ve had in the four years I studied there that I think it will make for a very effective form of promoting its cause and purpose.

I was happy to be back. I had so much fun. It is these events that make Lyceum a place I would always want to come back to.

CAS Week 2014: CASFA x Mr. & Ms. CAS

So yeah, CAS Week! The most awaited week of all the students, professors and alumni from our department. Why? Because CAS Week means revelry. That’s all you need to understand. Haha!
So here are a few photos to show you what went down that night. J There wasn’t much, just a whole lot of fuuuun! Yeah, baby!
with reina!
with judifei!

team powerful!
ri-ri, what's your issue? hahahaha!

awkward me on stage with sir boyet!!! lol

Truth be told, I felt a pang of sadness that night, as I realized how every time I would attend the CAS Week yearly, there are fewer familiar faces. But then again when I think about it, more than the faces, I go back to feel Lyceum again in its entirety, with all the memories and the people and the lessons and the experiences and the vibes. So with or without the familiar faces, I will still be coming back to this wonderful place.

VIVA CAS!

021813. Monday.

Just in case you haven’t heard it yet, WE WON! Damn right we nailed it!

College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) placed 2nd in this year’s Cheerdance Competition. The College of Engineering (COE) still reigns as the champion, while the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM) went home as 1st runner-up.
CAS
COE
CITHM
CCS
CBA
CAM
Technically, they won. But I’m just so attached with this college that I still count myself in even if I had already graduated. I know, so clingy. Once a CAS student, always a CAS student. HAHAHA.

This is just another congratulatory post for them. One among the many. They did great they deserve to know how amazing they were. J

What can I say, their performance was really something. It’s unexplainable how we, the audience, were able to feel their spirit oozing with confidence and passion. We had goosebumps not just once, but every time they perfected a stunt. One could actually see in their performance how badly they wanted to win.  I guess that was what truly brought them to victory - their strong desire to bring home the bacon. J
Frankly speaking, the trainers, the alumni and other third party people weren't really sure whether or not they’d make it. Not because they thought the kids were incapable, but maybe because they could feel that the kids still lack the drive to give their all. Also, all the other colleges were just as intense and competitive! Super! So to boost their energy, everyone who loves CAS decided to give them the push they needed. There was this overflowing support in different ways – money, presence, prayers.
So come Feb. 15, they all did what they had to do. They owned their performance! Yeehaaa! There were very few flaws. There weren't any stunt failures. They didn’t have poker faces. Their execution wasn’t lame. It was something to be proud of, truly. If you actually saw how they were during practice, the effect on you would be even greater. Those who helped during the training cried buckets of tears while watching because they knew all their efforts weren’t put to waste. To the CAS Pep members, it was a glorious moment. None of it would be possible without them. It was the members who have redeemed their place in the competition. Now that we once again claimed our spot, the only thing left to do is to never lose it again. J
Congratulations, CAS Pep!
Why are we doing this?

ALL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
