Love Thy Falls, Love Dampalit

012813. monday.

let’s kick off this post with a realization: you don’t always have to go far to experience nature’s gift. something amazing may just be right around the corner. you just gotta look. J
aaahhhhhhh
seriously, what took me so loooong? been living here in Laguna since day one, and only now did i discover this beautiful falls. oh well, better late than never. HAHA.

(photo overload ahead!J)
just wanna clarify something. this is not what it looks like. i am NOT picking my nose here. HAHAHA!
last Sunday, the 27th, Puring, Jerome, Ago, Jusz, Sarah, Kreng, Aileen, Marfi(that’s right, she came!), and i hiked our way to Dampalit Falls in Los Baños, Laguna. my expectations were exceeded by a mile! we were all surprised to find such a beauty in the neighborhood. thanks to Purita for bringing us here. the waterfalls is so clear and cold! the trees and greens are in bloom. the sound of water splashing down is so damn relaxing! J
agophotography. :D
peg??? hahaha!
bra??? BRAAAA! hahaha!
it’s perfect, well, almost perfect. it could’ve been really perfect if not for the sharp rocks at the bottom and the ice-cold water. gosh, i got a few cuts on my feet. boy, they hurt! HAHA! also, we were all shivering while and after swimming. it was so cold all we could do was just shout our lungs out and endure the icy sensation! HAHAHA!
cash problems? nah, we got them all covered! the place is so near we barely spent money on fare. we brought food. the entrance fee is close to nothing. the cottage rent goes from, what, P150 to P200. happy soul, happy heart, happy tummy, happy wallet!J

the photos are proof of how much we enjoyed this nature tripping. it was incredible, to say the least. we’ll do something like this again, yes? YESSSS!
the fun didn’t end there. after swimming, we went straight to the Prudentes’ to visit Yvonne(the full-time mom) and Baby Ipe(the lovable baby with cute eyes). since she can’t go out that often anymore, we gotta find a way to still see her.

*thanks to Jerome, Puring and Ago for the photos!

BAKIT HINDI KA CRUSH NG CRUSH MO? by RAMON BAUTISTA

122812. friday.

Happiness is self achievable. – Ramon “Dragon” Bautista

yey! i’ve finally put my hands on the much loved book of every broken-hearted and love-seeking Filipino today! HAHAHA!

Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? is generally a compilation of all questions about love(mostly), studies and life that fans asked and Ramon Bautista answered. along with answers are additional pieces of advice which, believe it or not, are applicable and helpful. this book more likely appeals to teenagers and young adults, but older people may still find what’s inside it relevant. J

i have loved Dragon since Strangebrew days, but i love him more now that he has TFTFZ (Tales From The Friend Zone) and this awesome book. HAHAHAHA! his powerful combination of wit and humor is such a turn on for the girls, makes him 100x hotter and cuter. no wonder girls go all cray-cray every time they hear his name. HAHA!

my cheerfulness after reading Monra’s book goes without saying that i really enjoyed Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo?J i was smiling from ear to ear the whole time! i super duper love everything about it, from the cover to the photos to the content!
favorite photo in the book. so macho! pahaha!
i gotta say, this is the most casual book i’ve read, judging by the choice of words and the construction of sentences. Dragon was very conversational when he dealt with the issues of his fans. it was like everything was just so light to him. serious or not so serious problems, he treated all of them in the same unfussy and informal way he’s used to, which i find so cool. J

this book is so relatable, too. a lot of people are going through tough situations similar to that of his followers. just different angles, more specific details, but the same dilemma altogether. they all can find refuge in the words of the Dragon through his book. HAHAHA.
the hair! hahaha!
moreover, his advices are the real deal. some may think they don’t sound like they make sense at all, but really they do. that’s what’s good about him, he delivers his point in humorous (and sometimes hilarious) ways.  to describe his suggestions/solutions, they are straightforward, honest, open-minded, and absurd-sounding but realistic. he doesn’t try to comfort readers by making them believe that they’ll soon get back to the one they’ve broken up with if it’s not really possible anymore. he doesn’t let them live with fake promises. he doesn’t give them false hopes. he tells them if they are actually the problem.

lastly, Ramon’s photos are so comical and cute! his quotes are very catchy and funny, too! hahaha!

i don’t consider this a review but a declaration of my love for him. all i have are good words for him and his book. HAHAHAHA!

love you, Ramon! J

thought keeper for 2013

011513. tuesday.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AGAIN!

wow, it has already been, what, two weeks since we festively welcomed 2013. that fast, huh? the smell of the smoke and the noise of the crackers still linger in my head. i'm still hungover. takes me this long to get over. HAHAHA.

2012 had been a crazy year. absolutely. if you think about it, it felt like it was only March yesterday, then it's  June, then it's September, then it's December! but if you take a closer look, you'll see that a lot actually happened. good thing i can still remember the many great and a few not so great moments of 2012, huge thanks to my planner! you see, if i didn't have my diary, i'm sure i wouldn’t remember even a third of the things i did then. talk about poor memory here. HAHA. this made me appreciate more the purpose of keeping one. J

i’ve become a real sucker for thought keepers since 2011. i’ve been very active and consistent in writing on my diary. i always see to it that i write everyday and jot down as many deets as possible. the cuteness of my 2012 planner was a factor for my interest and inspiration to fill all the pages. it's good to have something that’ll chronicle my daily thoughts and doings, so it won't be hard for me to keep track of my life. also, going down memory lane and checking on myself have become a helluva lot easier with a planner!

so for 2013, i gotta be sure to have a journal that’s just as cute, if not cuter than the one i had last year. then, i saw this Tomato planner online. i fell in love with it! but it’s only available in their outlets, and i don’t know if they have one here in Laguna. i asked for Faith’s help in getting me the journal. she’s so generous she told me she’d buy and give me the planner as her Christmas gift. hooray for Chistmas gifts! yey! thank youuuu! J

while there are other trendy planners, i prefer the cutie-simple but not close-to-boring simple ones. i like to keep it simple, decent and sincere.
i’m so excited to fill its blank pages with meaningful notes. this thought keeper will be my inert shock absorber, quiet listener, reminiscence companion, and life checker as i face everything 2013’s gonna  throw my way.

what about you? do ya already have a planner for this year? J

if i were Julie...

i’m dedicating this post to my sister from another mister named Julie Ann Ceraos who celebrated her birthday last December 27. hope it’s not yet too late for a gift.J

seeing that i am not yet pooping money (HAHAHA!), giving her a material gift is definitely out of the question. she suggested that i write something about her here on my blog. why not! i’ve done it before, i can do it again.J

since this is a gift, i have to come up with things that’ll make our special girl look lovable and admirable. (this implies that she is not a nice person in reality but an attention-seeking bitch. KIDDING! HAHAHA!) truth is, she’s beautiful INSIDE OUT!

i have decided to list down a few of the gazillion things she has that i wish i had! if i were to have any of Julie's traits, which would they be? here goes the list…

SPELL GOOD POSTURE: J-U-L-I-E-A-N-N

one of my frustrations in life is my hunched back! i’ve been a humpback  ever since, not the minor humpback, but the humpback humpback (if i’m still making sense here). i tried to correct my posture and i failed. HAHAHA! but with her, maintaining a good posture’s just a piece o’cake. as an indirect effect, it gives her a beautiful curvature and boosts her self-esteem. while she’s walking proudly with a straight body, there i am walking shamefully with a crooked back. i can already see myself a few years from now having early signs of osteoporosis! HAHAHAHA!

+MATH-IS×HER÷FRIEND.

Math despises me. i despise Math. the feeling is mutual. HAHA! again, it's different in her case. she's very good with numbers. i still remember i used to copy assignment and seatwork answers from her. desperate times call for desperate measures. HAHA! this is definitely one of the skills i’d so gladly steal from her. HAHA! she was one of the class’s finest! she was among our school’s representatives for MTAP review. HAHA! yep, that's a big deal to me, a milestone. HAHAHA! don’t laugh at me, please. HAHAHA!

SINGLE, SINGLE, DOUBLE, DOUBLE

as much as i wanted to dance all my life, i have two left feet! the curse of every frustrated badass-dancer-wannabe! *insert self-pity emoticon here(if there’s one.)* HAHA! in other news, dancing is something Julie was born to do. it’s her body’s calling. she’s a good dancer not in an extravagant way, but in a simple yet graceful kind of way. she’s got her own groove. J she hasn’t danced in a long time, and i do wish to see her rock the stage again. J go, Julie! sample! sample! HAHAHA!

I TALK, SHE LISTENS.

this, i believe, is Julie’s special gift. she may not notice it but she really is a good listener. you know, she’s the kind who shows interest in whatever it is you talk about even when it doesn’t concern her. she knows when to ask questions and when to shut up. i truly appreciate her for that. when all you want is to have someone who’ll let you do all the talking, she’s who you need. Julie, what would i do without you? J

CHIN UP, HEAD HIGH

my confidence level is -100. i’m the type who walks with my head down, sits in the far corner of the room and gets nervous reciting in front of the class. HAHAHA! i’m not anti-social, i just don’t like getting attention. i think i’m the total opposite of our birthday girl. she knows how to carry herself wherever she is. she imposes confidence even with the little things she does. i don’t think i have ever seen her rattled by anything before.  maybe she panics sometimes too, but she doesn’t show it (that’s how good she is). she manages to put on a strong and confident front every time. J

STRENGTH&COURAGE

here goes the more dramatic part of the post. Julie is one of the bravest pals i have. true story. she’s not just some pretty face. being friends with her for a long time now gave me the chance to know more about her ups and downs. i gotta say, those “downs” weren’t itty-bitty downs, but real life hang-ups. i wonder if i’d ever get through those if i were in her shoes. and, she likes to work on them in secret. our heroine’s pretty discreet and hates to brag. HAHAHA! but seriously, i’m touched and grateful that she allowed me inside her more personal life. we’re always here for  her.

Dear Kapatid,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! i wish you all the greatest things in life!

here’s your present. i do hope you like it. this is all i can give ye. for now. J where’s my treat?! HAHA!

*thanks to Faith for the photo. sorry for cropping her out. HAHA.
